Director

After a 32-year career as an attorney, Ron Gifford joined the staff of the Starke County Economic Development Foundation as special projects coordinator in November of 2008. On July 1, 2013, he became the director of SCILL. He retained his position with the Foundation and continues his role as a business adviser for the Northwest Regional Office of the Indiana Small Business Development Center, serving clients in Starke and Pulaski counties. Gifford earned his BA degree from Albion College and his JD degree from Emory University. He has experience serving on the Board of several not-for-profit organizations.

Administrative Assistant

Linda joined the SCILL staff as Administrative Assistant in February 2016. Prior to working at SCILL, she spent many years in office management for a local company. Her passion lies in the needs of children and teenagers of Starke County. In 2012, she established Kid’s Closet Ministry at the North Judson United Methodist Church and serves as the volunteer executive director.

Coordinator of Student Services and Programs

Jerry Gurrado joined the SCILL staff as Director in July of 2011. On July 1, 2013, he became the coordinator of student services and programs, which allows him to be more active in promoting the growing array of training courses offered at SCILL. Gurrado returned to his Starke County roots after several years as a teacher and coach in both Indiana and Ohio, as well as an adjunct faculty member for Ivy Tech Community College. Most recently, he was a real estate salesman in Whitley County. He also served as the community health improvement coordinator for Whitley Hospital and as a district manager for Sprint Yellow Pages. He graduated from Knox High School and maintained close contact with many friends and family members while he was out of the area, thus keeping a pulse on the community. Gurrado earned his BS degree from Ball State University and an MS degree from Indiana University. Since returning to Starke County, Gurrado has become very active in several organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors and as the vice president of the Starke County Community Foundation, the Northern Indiana Community Foundation and the Starke County Chamber of Commerce. He also serves as a member of the Indiana Health Starke Advisory Committee.

Vocational High School Automotive Technology Instructor

Scott Manns joined the SCILL staff as an instructor in the automotive technology program in August of 2013. Prior to working at SCILL, he worked for several years as an automobile service technician.He is a graduate of Knox High School and attended the SCILL automotive technology program for two years, winning the "Top Gun" Award his senior year. Scott received an Associates Degree from Lincoln Tech after graduation from high school. He has earned his State of Indiana Occupational Specialist License and also holds nine ASE certifications.

Vocational High School Automotive Technology Instructor

Joshua Holdread joined the instructional staff at SCILL in September of 2013. Prior to assuming this position, he worked as a service technician in the automobile vehicle industry, as well as a mechanic at the Starke County Airport. He holds ten ASE certifications as well as his State of Indiana Occupational Specialist License. Joshua is a graduate of the SCILL Automotive Technology Program and holds an Associates Degree from Ivy Tech North Central. Joshua graduated from Knox High School in 2007.

Welding Technology Instructor

Andy Odle has been an employee of ArcelorMittal for the past several years, and during that time, he has earned several American Welding Society (AWS) certifications, including being an AWS certified welding inspector. He has also taught several classes and individuals over the years, and he teaches both the vocational and adult classes at SCILL.
