Karen Shuman
President - Superintendent of Culver School Corporation

Karen Shuman is in her sixth year as Superintendent of Culver Community Schools and 32nd year as a career educator. Karen started her career in Bloomington, Illinois after graduating from Illinois State University as a Biology Teacher for Tri-Valley Jr/Sr High School and an alternative night school for high school students. Karen then accepted a new high school Biology teaching position in her hometown school in Clinton, Illinois. During her career at Clinton, she was a basketball coach, union treasurer and building representative, class and club sponsor for 15 years until she obtained her Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment with School Administrative Endorsements from Illinois State University. She became the Clunton Common Core Standards and PBIS. She continued her education at Illinois State University to obtain her superintendent license and chief school business official as a doctorate student. She moved to Lafayette, Indiana in 2011 to become principal at Southwestern Middle School in Tippecanoe School Corporation. She transferred her doctoral program studies to Indiana State University to obtain superintendent licensure in Indiana and her Educational Specialist Degree. Karen has 4 children, 4 stepchildren (all over 18) and 19 grandchildren. Karen serves as a board member of the Culver Youth Club, Culver Redevelopment commission, Lions, Chamber of Commerce, Culver Mainstreet and Visitor Center, LIFT, and Culver Crossroads. 

 

Jim Wagner
Vice President

Mr. Wagner worked in many different capacities over his 40-year career with the Sprint Corporation. He retired in 2011 while serving as Public Affairs Manager throughout the State of Indiana.

Carla Musial
Treasurer

With over 40 years of experience in Community Banking, Carla Musial has served in the positions of Vice President and Knox Branch Manager at the DeMotte State Bank. Carla also serves as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Starke County Economic Development Foundation.

Jennifer Felke
Secretary - Executive Director of North Central CTE Cooperative

Passionate educator with extensive experience in K-12 educational leadership, CTE & Dual Credit programming, Project Based Learning, professional development, instructional coaching, staff training and entrepreneurship.  School leadership has focused on managing multiple education and workforce initiatives that gew CTE and dual credit programming and student outcomes. Education includes a B.A. in Economics from DePauw University, M.A. in Education from Bethel University, CTE Endorsement from Indiana State University, and a K-12 Administrative license from Indiana Wesleyan University.  Born and raised in the Chicago area, I have lived in Plymouth with my husband for 30 years and we are the proud parents of three grown sons, all who found their career passion through CTE courses at Plymouth High School. 

Dr. Annette Zupin
Board Member - Superintendent of North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation

Annette Zupin has spent over 20 years in the North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation.  Prior to her current role of Superintendent, Zupin spent 8 years as the Middle School Principal and 6 years as the HS Principal.  She is in her 7th year as the Superintendent.  Prior to school administration, she taught in Winamac for 11 years as a middle/high school business teacher.  Dr. Zupin resides in North Judson with her husband.  Zupin has three grown children.

Dave Howell
Board Member

Mr. Howell is the facilities and purchasing manager at Kankakee Valley REMC and also serves as the vice president on the Starke County Economic Development Foundation.

Dennis Estok
Representative Member - Mayor of Knox

Mr. Estok currently serves as Mayor of the City of Knox after having spent several years as the Starke County Surveyor and as a member of the Starke County Plan Commission.

Lisa Dan
Ex-Officio - Executive Director of  Starke County Economic Development Foundation

Lisa Dan is currently Executive Director of the Starke County Economic Development Foundation.  She served as Administrative Assistant of the Foundation from 2006-2020.  She is a lifelong resident of Starke County, with short stops in Fort Wayne and Bloomington, and then back to Starke County where she raised her three sons and currently resides.  She is a graduate of International Business College in Fort Wayne.  Lisa has over 35 years’ experience as an office administrator in the public, non-profit, and for-profit sectors.  She brings to the position top-notch organizational and interpersonal skills.  She understands the vision, is able to design its processes, and causes implementation to its ultimate end.  She will always strive to improve the quality of life for Starke County citizens through job creation, retention, expansion, and workforce development efforts.
